"Planning of New Institutions" (PONI)
Saline County has been selected to participate in the National Institute of Corrections, "Planning of New Institutions" (PONI) program this coming August. This nationwide program provides training to local government and criminal justice system officials in the methodologies proven most useful in creating a new or expanded correctional facility. The PONI curriculum addresses the planning, design, and construction of adult local detention facilities. The program is offered at no cost to local agencies who have requested assistance with the planning process of building a new or expanding a facility. Each community selected to participate in PONI is required to send a four person team to participate in this program.
Saline County's team will include, Sheriff Glen Kochanowski, Jerry L. Fowler, Vice Chair of the Saline County Board of County Commissioners, Rita Deister Saline County Administrator and Captain Roger Soldan our Jail Administrator.
