The Silver Needles Quilt Guild made 104 quilts for the Sheriff's Office to distribute to children. The guild has 80 members. Congratulations to Eric Taylor on wining the Special Olympics of Kansas first place prize in the 2007 $1 + Badge Number fundraiser. Combined with fellow law enforcement officers from across the state, over $2000.00 was raised to support Special Olympics programs. Pictured are Captain Al Augustine, Corrections Division Commander, Deputy Jim Fletcher Area 8 Coordinator for Kansas Special Olympics, Deputy Eric Taylor and Sheriff Glen Kochanowski. The Special Olympics of Kansas provides support to more the 5,900 Kansas athletes who will compete in a variety of events held throughout the state, nation and world. These events empower those with intellectual disabilities to become physically fit, respected community members and leaders of the future. |
