December 27, 2002 Salina Police Department Case#2002-33474
On December 23, 2002 at approximately 9:44 P.M., an Aggravated Robbery was committed at KWIK Shop, 2629 Market Place. The person entered the front doors of the business brandishing a silver handgun and was demanding money from the register. After getting the money, the person ran south from the store and possibly east. The person is described as a black male, 25 years old, 5’10” tall, 160 pounds wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt with a dark colored ball cap underneath the hood.
December 20, 2002 Saline County Sheriffs Office CASE # 2002-5504
Between November 11th and November 12th, 2002 unknown person(s) damaged a 1972 International grain truck belonging to Mid-Kansas Co-op by breaking the mirrors, and windows. The truck was parked next to the Elevator located at 229 North Main in Bridgeport Kansas. Estimated loss: $1000.00
December 13, 2002 Salina Police Department Case# 2002-3220 & 32022
On December 8, 2002 at approximately 2:00 A.M., an Aggravated Burglary was committed in the 900 block of Cedar St.. A black male wearing a yellow hooded sweat shirt walked in an unsecured front door of the residence and went upstairs to a 15 year old female’s room. Armed with a knife, the male placed his hand over the female’s mouth and threatened to kill her. The female managed to break free and yelled for her father. The male then ran out of the house and was last seen running southbound from the area. The male was described as being 5’ 10” to 6’ tall, slender build and between 16 to 18 years old. Also found in front of the residence was a dark charcoal color 91 Ford Explorer that had been stolen while parked at Central High School, 650 E. Crawford on December 5, 2002.
December 6, 2002 Salina Police Department Case# 2002-31216
Between July and November 2002, a theft was committed at Brown Mackie College, 2106 S. 9th. A View Sonic Office Theater digital projector was stolen. It is described as black plastic and has a digital control pad on top, video in and out ports on the side and a data plate on the bottom. Total loss is estimated at $3,170.
November 29, 2002 Saline County Sheriff’s Office Case# 2002-5480
On November 12th 2002, between the hours of 3:30AM and 5:00AM, unknown person(s) damaged property at 5056 E. K-4 Highway belonging to Southeast of Saline School. A windshield and several windows on two school busses were broken out, two emergency lights on the school building were broken off, the roof and windows on a Chevrolet Cavalier were damaged and the Southeast of Saline School sign at the entrance to the parking lot was also damaged. Estimated loss: $2800.00
November 22, 2002 Salina Police Department Case# 2002-28214
Sometime during the weekend of October 19 and October 21,
2002, a Business Burglary was committed at Intense Motor Sports, 812 N. 10th.
Entry was gained by breaking the front plate glass door window. Once inside,
several high-performance import auto parts were stolen. These parts were made
for high-performance Honda engines, but some of the parts would work on Acuras.
Some of the items taken include: 1. SX fuel pump, fuel filter and fuel
regulator, 2. MSD ignition control wires and coils. 3. DEFI boost and
pressure gauge. 4. GReddy electric boost controller and oil catch. Total
loss and damage is estimated at $3,750.
November 15, 2002 Salina Police Department Case# 2002-29620
Sometime during the night of November 7, 2002, several shots were fired from a .22 caliber firearm in the Salina area. In the 1800 and 1900 blocks of Highland, one house was hit. The other rounds struck vehicles parked in that area. At Great Plains Federal Credit Union, 2061 S. Ohio, two vehicles parked in their lot were struck by .22 caliber bullets. In the 2300 block of S. Ohio, two houses and two vehicles parked at that location were also struck.

Between October 1st and October 21st 2002 unknown person(s) removed a John Deere Model 336 Bailer from the 4700 Block of West Farrelly Road. The bailer is John Deere green in color. The bailer was not operable at the time it was taken. Estimated loss: $3000.00
November 1, 2002 Salina Police Department Case# 2002-28584
Sometime during the night of October 25, 2002, a Business Burglary was committed at American Pool and Spa, 1906 S. Broadway. Entry was gained by breaking the front plate glass door window. Once inside, the following items were stolen: Twenty one Imperial Pool Cues; Two Belgian Pool ball sets; Fluke voltmeter; and a Box of key chains. Total loss is estimated at $2,805.
October 25, 2002 Salina Police Department Case# 2002-28020
Sometime during the night of October 18, 2002, a Business Burglary was committed at Joe’s Auto Mart, 1842 Hageman. The business owner found the front door standing open and discovered the offices had been ransacked. Several cars in the parking lot also had pry marks on the window trim in an attempt to gain entry. Some of the car windows were broken and their stereos were missing. Total loss is estimated at $2,045.

Between September 3rd and September 16th 2002, unknown person(s) entered a barn located in the 8900 block of East Waterwell road and took a Gasoline Welder, a Lincoln Electric Welder, 2 Pipe Wrenches and 2 Crescent Wrenches. Estimated loss: $2000.00
October 11, 2002 Salina Police Department Case# 2002-25556
Sometime during the night of September 22, 2002, a Vehicle Burglary was committed in the 800 block of S. 10th. Entry was gained into a red 1992 Ford F150 truck and several items were stolen. Some of these items include a Minolta 35 mm camera, three aluminum ladders, a Dewalt finishing nail gun, a Craftsman reciprocating saw in a Craftsman case and several other tools. Total loss is estimated at $1,750.
October 4, 2002 Salina Police Department Case# 2002-25912
Sometime during the night of September 26, 2002, a Burglary was committed at Quizno’s Subs, 2100 S. 9th. There were no signs of forced entry on the outside doors; however, an office door had been forced open on the inside. Missing from the store is a black safe containing $249 in cash, approximately $250 worth of Quizno Gift Certificates and 100 free sandwich cards. Total loss and damaged is estimated at $812.
September 27, 2002 Saline County Sheriff’s Office Case# 2002-4368
Between September 6th and September 8th 2002, unknown person(s) entered a house under construction in the 8000 block of East North St. and removed a Lennox brand forced air furnace from the basement, and an air conditioner condensing unit from behind the house. The furnace and condenser are described as beige and silver in color. Estimated loss: $5600.00
September 20, 2002 Salina Police Department Case#2002-24726
Between 3:00 P.M., September 14, and 1:30 A.M., September 15, 2002 a Residential Burglary occurred in the 1100 block of Dover Circle. Entry was gained by forcing open a window to the residence. Once inside, a Gateway EV-700 personal computer, Cannon Bubble Jet printer and a Cox Cable modem were stolen. Total loss is estimated at $1,535.
September 13, 2002 Salina Police Department Case# 2002-23857
At approximately 10:10 P.M., September 6, 2002 a Robbery was committed at Rod’s Total, 1401 S. Santa Fe. Just after the business closed, a white male approached the front entrance and threw a rock through the front door window. The male then entered the business and demanded money. The male is described in his early 20’s, 5’6”, 125-135, wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt with unknown green lettering, light blue jeans and a green bandana covering his mouth.
September 6, 2002 Saline County Sheriff’s Office Case# 2002-3873
Between the hours of 8:30 PM on August 13th and 7:00AM on August 14th 2002 unknown subject(s) took a gold in color 1995 Dodge Intrepid from the parking lot behind FERCO Rental located at 264 South Broadway and drove it to the 900 block of North Cunningham Road where it was set on fire. Prior to setting the vehicle on fire numerous guns and hunting equipment was removed from the vehicle. Estimated loss: $8,000.00
August 30, 2002 Salina Police Department Case#2002-15318
Between June and August, 2002, the Salina Police Department has received twelve reports of push lawn mowers being stolen from victim’s yards. The lawn mowers were usually kept in the back yard or under porches. Most of the thefts have occurred on the north end of Salina and appear to be related. Total loss is estimated at $2,200.
August 23, 2002 Salina Police Department Case# 2002-12113
Sometime during the night of May 14, 2002 a vehicle was damaged while parked in the 300 block of Baker. A green 1993 Toyota Land Cruiser was parked along the street when the windshield was struck with a brick. The vehicle sustained a broken windshield and the hood was dented and scratched. Total damage is estimated at $1,500.
Between the dates of August 1st and August 4th 2002, a Grumman brand, 18 foot silver colored double end aluminum canoe was taken from a pond in the 11,000 block of W. State St. Rd. Estimated loss: $1000.00
Between July 8, 2002 and July 29, 2002 approximately 16 vehicle burglaries were committed throughout Salina. Each time entry to the vehicles was gained by breaking out windows to the vehicle by unknown means. Items removed from vehicle included car stereo equipment, CD’s, and money. A majority of the vehicle burglaries occurred around the area of 9th Street and Cloud, but were not limited to those areas. Total estimated monetary loss in theft and damage is estimated at $15,295.
August 2, 2002 Salina Police Department Case# 2002-16755
On June 29, 2002, at 0048 hours, an Aggravated Battery occurred at 614 W. Lincoln. Several people were involved in an altercation in the middle of the street. The victim was struck in the head with a baseball bat. Several witnesses have been unable to identify the subject with the baseball bat. The victim received massive head injuries as a result of being struck in the head.
July 26, 2002 Saline County Sheriff’s Office CASE # 2002-3374
During the evening hours of July 15th, a 2001 Polaris ATV 4-wheeler was taken from a pasture in the 4500 block of S. Niles Rd. The ATV is silver in color with black carrying racks on the front and back. The keys were not left in the ATV. Estimated loss: $4500.00.
July 19, 2002 Salina Police Department Case# 2002-17930
Sometime during the night of July 10, 2002 a Burglary was committed at the Knucklehead Tavern, 311 E. Pacific. Entry was gained by forcing open the front door and the following items were stolen: 40 pounds of hamburger; Eight 24 packs of Budweiser beer; 10 pounds of roast beef; $160 in rolled quarters; Several bottles of whiskey; 18 cartons of cigarettes; 100 music CD’s; and other items. Total loss is estimated at $2,905

In the early morning hours of May 16, 2002, the Salina Police Department and the Salina Fire Department were sent to 805 W. Ash in reference to a detached garage that was on fire. It appeared the fire was started on the outside of the building. One hour later, the Salina Police Department and the Salina Fire Department were sent to 803 W. Ash in reference to a detached garage that was on fire. It appeared the fire was on the outside of the building. In the early morning hours of June 19, 2002, the Salina Police Department and the Salina Fire Department were sent to 805 W. Ash in reference to a detached garage on fire. It appeared the fire was started on the outside of the building.
Total damage in all three fires is estimated at $1240.

During the night of July 2nd, 2002, someone broke into a machine shed belonging to Stevens Contractors located at 432 E. Ave A. Taken from the shed was a Stihl portable cut-off saw, and a Top-Con transit level. Estimated loss: $1550.00
June 28, 2002 Salina Police Department Case# 2002-13760
On May 31, 2002 at approximately 2:51 A.M., an Aggravated Arson and a Drive-by Shooting were committed at 910 Birch. Three people were sleeping inside the residence when they discovered a fire on the south end. Upon extinguishing the fire, it was determined that the fire had been intentionally set. As the fire scene was being processed, a bullet hole was also found in the front part of the residence.
June 21, 2002 Salina Police Department Case# 2002-13434 & 2002-13435
Between May 25, and May 28, 2002, two construction trailers were burglarized in the south part of Salina. One of the trailers is owned by Southwind Contractors Incorporated and was parked in the 2400 block of Calcutta. The other trailer is owned by Kevin Turner Construction and was parked in the 1300 block of Lakeview. Both of the trailers had numerous name brand construction tools stolen which included mostly Dewalt and Bostitch. Total loss is estimated at $12,700.

Between the hours of 10:00 PM on June 9th 2002 and 11:55 AM on June 10th 2002 unknown subject(s) entered the Saline County District #5 Fire Station located at 1860 North Simpson Road. Suspect(s) removed a 19” TV/VCR combo, Motorola Pager, 2 Partner Processor Telephones, Packard Bell Computer, Xerox Printer, Canon Copier, General Electric handheld radio, Tool box with hand tools, 2 cases Mobil brand motor oil, a Homak brand tool cabinet with tools, microwave, small Century safe, a Honda EG3500 gas Generator, jack, creeper, battery charger, Hoover Wind Tunnel vacuum, 3 Scott Air pack masks, Fire helmet with the name Nelson on it, and 2 bunker coats. Estimated loss: $10,502.00

Sometime during the night of May 25, 2002, a white 2000 Ford F-550 4x4 truck was stolen off the lot of the U. S. Department of Agriculture, Natural Resource Center, 760 S. Broadway. The truck carried a Simco brand drill rig and two large augers. The total cost of the truck and equipment was valued at $80,000. Other vehicles on the lot also had their windows broken. On June 4, the truck was found at the Ramada Inn parking lot, 1949 N. 9th.

Sometime during the night of May 16, 2002 a theft was committed at Midwest Siding, 1504 State. A green Port -O-Bender sheet metal bender was taken out of a truck bed that was parked at the business. The sheet metal bender is 10 foot long and was attached to the truck with a log chain. Total loss and is estimated at $1,720.

On May 17th, 2002, between the hours of midnight and 11:00 A.M. unknown person(s) broke into the business No Place Inc. located at 1334 W. North St. by prying open a door. Once inside the business three cash drawers were stolen from an ATM machine. Estimated loss: $2000.00
May 17, 2002 Salina Police Department Case# 2002-11775
Sometime during the night of May 10, 2002, three businesses were burglarized which involved a substantial loss. At Bennett Auto Plex II, 722 S. Broadway, entry was gained through a window. Once inside, a 1999 Titan Harley Davidson motorcycle was stolen from the showroom. At Fast Lane Auto, 1220 W. Crawford, entry was gained by forcing open a back door. Three Harley Davidson motorcycles were stolen along with a Gateway Computer, dark blue office chair and a black Midland Scanner. At Spa’s & Such 4 U, which is an adjoining business, a Sony lap top computer was stolen along with various spa supplies. Total loss is estimated at $86,387.
May 10, 2002 Saline County Sheriff’s Office Case# 2002-11153
On May 5, 2002 at approximately 1:56 A.M., an Aggravated Robbery was committed in the 200 block of W. Decatur. A Domino’s Pizza delivery person was delivering pizza in that area when two black males confronted him. One of the males had a chrome automatic handgun and pointed it at the delivery person demanding money. Both of the subjects were described as in their early 20’s. The male with the handgun was about 5’7”, slim build, wearing a blue T-shirt, blue jeans and a dark colored scarf over his face.
May 3, 2002 Saline County Sheriff’s Office Case# 2002-1760
Between April 10th and April 12th 2002 unknown subject(s) entered a residence located at 2041 North Link Road and removed eight handguns, eight rifles, and seven shotguns from a gun safe inside the residence. An old Military Musket converted to a shotgun was removed from the wall over the fireplace. Several knives were also taken. One arrest has been made, but it is known that others are involved. Estimated loss: $7000.00
April 26, 2002 Saline Police Department Case# 2002-9428
Sometime during the night of April 17, 2002, a maroon 1988 Ford Econoline Van was stolen from the 2300 block of Edward. The van was then taken to different parts of the city and intentionally crashed into several parked cars, mailboxes, street signs and light poles. The van was eventually found near the intersection of Carolina and Edward St. Total damage is estimated at $15,000.
April 19, 2002 Salina Police Department Case# 2002-8955
Sometime during the night of April 12, 2002, a total of twenty-one vehicles had their tires punctured throughout the east part of the city. Some of the streets include: Argonne, Bradley, Douglas and Deborah. Most of the vehicles were parked on the side of the street or in driveways. Total damage is estimated at $4,720.
April 12, 2002 Saline County Sheriff’s Office CASE# 2002-1652
Between March 23rd and April 6th 2002 unknown person(s) entered a storage shed and barn located at 2732 East Shipton Road. Removed were an acetylene/oxygen torch set, a Lincoln welder, 55 gallon drum ˝ full of gasoline, several green Rubber Maid storage containers, two Apple Composite Computer monitors, several red 5 gallon fuel containers, a 12 inch Homelite chainsaw, plastic tub with white rope handles, and two black car ramps. Estimated loss is $2000.00
April 5, 2002 Salina Police Department Case# 2002-8035
Between April 1, and April 3, 2002 a business burglary was committed at a storage facility located in the 800 block of E. North. Entry was gained by cutting the pad lock to the door. Once inside, several pieces of electrical equipment were stolen. Some of the equipment included a maroon Enerpack hydraulic bender, an orange thirty-foot Louisville ladder, a Hydraulic Knockout in a green color case, a Programmable Intermatic time clock and other electrical equipment. Total loss and damage is estimated at $17,966.
March 29, 2002 Salina Police Department Case #2002-6542
Sometime during the night of March 18, 2002 a business burglary was committed at Hough Piano, 128 S. Santa Fe. Entry was gained by prying open a back door to the business. Once inside, several speakers were stolen. Four of the speakers were “Johannus” brand speaker boxes with each containing four six-inch speakers. Another “Johannus” brand speaker stood four-feet tall and sixteen inches wide. This speaker holds a small eight to ten inch speaker and a twelve to fourteen inch speaker. The last speaker is a “Sunfire” brand containing two ten-inch subwoofer speakers. Total loss and damage is estimated at $8,454.

On March 4th, 2002, between the hours of 8:00AM and 3:00PM, someone entered a home at 10941 W. Watkins Road. Taken from inside the home was a Browning 9mm handgun in a black leather holster, and some currency. Estimated loss: $1350.00
March 15, 2002 Salina Police Department Case# 2002-5416
Sometime during the night of March 6, 2002 a business burglary was committed Renegade Paintball, 911 W. Crawford. Entry was gained by breaking out a large plate glass window. Once inside, several different models of paintball guns, air tanks, gloves and other accessories were stolen. Total loss and damage is estimated at $7,691.
March 8, 2002 Salina Police Department Case# 2002-4289
Sometime during the evening hours of February 22, 2002, a Toshiba 4600 series Satellite Pro laptop computer was stolen from Hageman School, 409 W. Cloud. The computer is gray and silver in color and was sitting in the library when it was stolen. Parent-Teacher Conferences were being conducted during the time of the theft. Total loss is estimated at $2,500.
March 1, 2002 Saline County Sheriff’s Office Case# 2002-960
On February 23rd, 2002, between the hours of 2:00 and 8:00 in the morning, someone broke into a 1991 Lincoln Town Car that had been parked in the parking lot of the Wild Wild West Gentleman’s Club. Extensive damage was done to the car by breaking the windows and slashing the tires. Taken from inside the car was a Pioneer brand AM/FM/CD player. Estimated loss: $2,400.00
February 22, 2002 Salina Police Department Case# 2002-3549
Between February 8 and February 11, 2002 a Garage Burglary was committed in the 400 block of S. Phillips. Entry was gained by forcing open a window. Once inside, a radiator, grill, two headlights, two rear fenders and a Continental spare tire cover that goes to a 1932 Graham Blue Streak vehicle were stolen. This vehicle is very rare and only a few of them are in existence. Total loss is estimated at $4,250.
February 15, 2002 Salina Police Department Case# 2002-2725
Sometime during the night of February 1, 2002, several rounds were fired into the residence at 1900 Roberts from a firearm. Three rounds struck the rear part of the residence. One entered a window leading into a storage room while the others struck near the window. Six people were inside the residence during the night of the shooting including a ten-year-old boy and an eight-year-old girl.

December 27th 2001, unknown person(s) entered a pole shed in the 7100
block of S. Holmes Rd. and removed a tandem axle, 16-foot flatbed trailer. The
trailer is black in color, has 4 inch tall metal railing on the front and sides,
and a wooden platform deck. Estimated loss: $5000.00
February 1, 2002 Salina Police Department Case# 2002-2030
At approximately 11:20 P.M., January 24, 2002, a 59-year-old woman was sexually assaulted in the 1400 block of Teakwood. A white male with a thick moustache rushed through the front door of her residence and sexually assaulted her. The woman suffered a bruised shoulder, scratches on the face and a bruised right eye.
January 25, 2002 Salina Police Department Case# 2002-1794
Sometime during the night of January 21, 2002 a red 16’ car trailer was stolen from the parking lot of Rhino Lining, 727 N. 12th. The trailer is newly painted with bright red and has Goodyear Eagle One tires with gold lettering. The trailer has ramps only with no floor and fenders over the tandem axle. Total loss is estimated at $3,500.

Between November 1st 2001 and
November 2nd 2001 unknown person(s) removed an antique horse carriage
cart that was displayed in the front yard of 5176 East Country Club Road. The
cart is black in color with wire wheels, and has a seat made out of wood.

January 11, 2002 Salina Police Department Case# 01-20472
On August 2, 2001, the Salina Police Department was notified of a missing person by the name of Leslie Johnson. Leslie was a 29-year-old white male who lived at 1409 Derby at the time of his disappearance. Also missing was Leslie’s orange “Specialized” Stumpjumper mountain bike. On January 5, 2002, Leslie Johnson’s skeletal remains were found on some pastureland near Marquette, Kansas in McPherson County. The mountain bike is still missing. Sometime during the night of December 21, 2001, a business burglary was committed at Custom Auto Sales, 749 N. Broadway. Entry was gained by forcing open the back door. Once inside, approximately $1,500 in currency was taken along with several rifles and a shotgun. Some of the rifles include a .308 lever action Winchester and a Savage pump action rifle. Also three antique black powder handguns were stolen along with other miscellaneous items. Total loss and damage is estimated at $5,547.
