Sometime between July 7 and August 7, 2008, a theft occurred at Westar Energy, 1001 Edison Place. Unknown person(s) entered the fenced lot and removed a large amount of copper wire from a work trailer. The consists of 12 braided copper wires wrapped into a 1 1/2" in diameter cord. Loss is estimated at $8,000.00
August 8, 2008 Saline County Sheriff's Office Case# 2008-2647 and 2008-3155
Sometime between June 23rd thru June 27th and July 30th thru July 31st unknown person(s) stole 140 new 40" by 48" wooden pallets from Phillips Seed located at 205 East Main Street in Assaria. The pallets were wrapped in plastic and stored outside a metal building. Estimated loss is $3,600.00

Sometime during the night of July 25, 2008, a burglary was committed at Farm Bureau Financial Services, 328 N. Ohio. Unknown person(s) forced entry through a rear window. Once inside, the suspects removed 3 Gateway Laptop computers, two computer docking stations and a digital camera. Loss is estimated at over $4,800.00.

Sometime between July 13th at 5:00 PM and July 14th at 6:00 AM, unknown person(s) forced entry through a window at the USD 306 Southeast of Saline district School office located at 5056 East K-4 Highway. Once inside the office building a NEC VT695 overhead projector with a remote and amplifier was stolen, along with $25.00 in change. Estimated loss is $1,325.00.

Sometime during the night of July 2, 2008, a vehicle burglary was committed in the 1000 block of East Kirwin. Unknown person(s) entered the unsecured vehicle and removed 24 Lifeline Personal Help Buttons. Total loss is estimated at over $2300.00.
July 4, 2008 Salina Police Department Case# 2008-13371
Sometime between May 20 and May 23, 2008, a theft was committed in the 1900 block of Cedar Ridge Drive. Unknown person(s) took a car trailer from a construction site. The trailer is a black Bon double axle car trailer with an electric wench on the front and is bearing Kansas tag 228AGZ. Loss is estimated at $7,000.
June 27, 2008 Saline County Sheriff's Office Case# 2008-2079 and 2008-2310
Sometime between May 18th and June 6th unknown person(s) pried open storage compartments to multiple campers located at 461 East Avenue A, Salina. Once inside the campers, suspect(s) stole a Coleman propane grill, a Craftsman socket set, a Craftsman 19.2 volt drill with charger, 9 quarts of Valvoline 20W50 racing motor oil, a Snap-On 18 volt impact wrench, 2 red Optima Gel car batteries, 8 12 volt deep cycle camper batteries, a 15spare tire, a Mag-Lite flashlight, screwdrivers and tie downs. Estimated loss is $1,719.00

Sometime during the night of June 18, 2008, numerous damage to properties were committed in the downtown area. Unknown person (s) spray painted graffiti on several buildings using blue and black spray paint. Total damage is estimated at over $1500.

Sometime during the night of June 3, 2008, a burglary was committed at Clark-Mize Law Offices, 139 S. 8th. Unknown person (s) gained entry by breaking out a window on the south side of the business. Sometime between May 27th and June 1st unknown suspect(s) forced entry into a shop located at 5353 West Watkins Road. The suspect(s) stole a Redda brand space heater, a Stihl brand concrete saw, Pittsburg brand metric impact sockets, 3-1000 foot rolls of 14-2-G Romex wire, 1000 feet of CAT 5 phone cable, 1000 feet of RG6 cable, a Lennox brand hack saw, 2 DeWalt brand hammer drills, a DeWalt 18 volt power kit with drills and saws, a GB brand knockout set, and other unknown brand miscellaneous hand tools. Sometime during the night of April 18, 2008, a burglary was committed at Salina Scale Sales and Service, 415 N. 9th. Unknown person (s) forced entry through a window on the north side of the business. Once inside, the following items were removed: Multi-point pressure washer; Multi-point 5000 watt generator; 2.5 HP air compressor; Unknown brand digital camera and 6” color monitor. Total loss and damage is estimated at over $9000.

At 4:24 AM May 8, 2008, the Salina Fire Dept. responded to a fire at 736 N. 2nd. Investigations revealed that unknown person(s) entered into the vacant residence and deliberately started a fire. Damage is estimated at over $10,000.
May 16, 2008 Saline County Sheriff’s Office Case# 2008-1634
Sometime between April 23rd at 7:00 PM and April 24th at 5:50 AM unknown person(s) entered Farmers and Ranchers, located at 1500 West Old 40 Highway, and stole $265 worth of change, $5 in cash, $40 worth of US Postal stamps, 1 case of Bryan 5 oz bone end ham steaks, 1 case of Tenders breaded pork loin steaks, and 4 cases of Prairie Creek hamburger patties. Estimated loss: $511.00
May 9, 2008 Salina Police Department Case# 2008-10844
Sometime during the night of May 4, 2008, a burglary was committed at Central High School, 650 E. Crawford. Unknown person (s) forced entry through an exterior door. Once inside, several windows and doors were damaged. Two IMAC computers were removed from the office and were later found near an exit door. Total loss and damage is estimated at over $5800.

Sometime during the night of April 11, 2008, a burglary was committed at Meier’s Moving and Storage, 352 N. Santa Fe. Unknown person or persons gained entry into the business and removed a 1998 Dodge Caravan and petty cash. The vehicle was located the next day in the 600 blk. W. Hamilton. Loss is estimated at over $4,400.
April 25, 2008 Saline County Sheriff’s Office Case# 2008-1552
Sometime between 5:00 PM on April 16th and 8:00 AM on April 17th, unknown person(s) entered a house under construction in the 1100 block of North Donmyer Road and stole a yellow and black DeWalt Radio charger, 2 yellow and black DeWalt XRP 18 volt cordless drills, a gray Roto Zip, a yellow and black DeWalt 18 volt angle drill, a green Hitachi framing nailer, and 2 green craftsman tool bags containing miscellaneous tools. Estimated loss is $1,539.00.
April 18, 2008 Salina Police Department Case# 2008-9026, 2008-9030, 2008-9031
Sometime between April 11 and April 14, 2008, three arsons were committed in south Salina. The first arson occurred at Kansas Wesleyan University’s new student building which is currently under construction. Unknown persons entered the building, sprayed a substance on the floor, and set it on fire. In the second instance, unknown persons set coffee filters and paper towels on fire near a small storage shed at Stutzman’s Nursery, 9th and Cloud. In the third instance, unknown persons forced open a door to a storage building at 505 W. Cloud. Once inside, paper towels and cans of paint were set on fire. Damage is estimated at over $3,000.
April 11, 2008 Salina Police Department Case# 2008-8313
Sometime during the night of April 6, 2008, a burglary was committed at Harris and Son Refuge, 734 North 13th. Unknown person(s) forced open the front door to the business. Once inside, a Lincoln welder and numerous NAPA and Snap On tools were removed. Total loss and damage is estimated at over $1800.
April, 4, 2008 Saline County Sheriff’s Office Case# 2008-1291
Between March 21st and April 2nd unknown person(s) stole a Toro commercial grade self-propelled push lawn mower, a 14’ Corona pole saw, and an extension ladder from Earthcare Services Landscape and Irrigation located at 1777 East Old 40 Highway. The thefts occurred over a two week period of time. Estimated loss: $1350.00
March 28, 2208 Salina Police Department Case# 2008-6492, 7428, 7512 and 7516
Between March 17 and March 28, 2008, four liquor stores were burglarized. Bo’s Liquor Store, 2745 Belmont, was forcibly entered through the back door. Once inside, various bottles of alcohol were removed. Perry’s Liquor Store, 1001 E. Crawford, had a brick thrown through the front window, but no entry was gained. A J Liquor Store, 2015 S. Ohio, had the front window shattered and various bottles of alcohol were removed. Phil’s Liquor Store, 2300 Planet Ave, had the front glass door shattered and various bottles of alcohol were removed. Total loss and damage is estimated at over $2500.
March 21, 2008 Salina Police Department Case# 2008-3574
Sometime between 6:30 PM February 12 and 4:00 AM February 13, 2008, a theft was committed at Salina Iron and Metal, 516 North 5th. Unknown person or persons entered the storage lot where the business keeps their roll off trucks and removed two trucks. The first truck was located near the main building stuck in the snow. The second truck was later located at 5th and Grand streets. Neither truck had any damage. Loss is estimated at over $98,000.
March 14, 2008 Saline County Sheriff’s Office Case# 2008-890
Between the dates of March 6th and March 7th, 2008 unknown person(s) burglarized a new home still under construction at 3509 Quail Creek Lane in Saline County. Taken were 4 large spools of Romax Wire, 2 gray wire carts for spooled wire, and 2 fiberglass 8’ step ladders, one red in color and the other yellow. The estimated loss from this burglary is $1,768.00.
March 7, 2008 Salina Police Department Case# 2008-5096
Sometime between 8:30 AM March 1 and 8:00 AM March 2, 2008, a burglary was committed at Meadowlark Elementary School, 2200 Glen. Unknown person or persons gained entry into the school and damaged two vending machines and removed money and snacks. They also removed 2-Sony camcorders, Olympus digital camera, Dell multi-media projector and a Motorola cell phone. Loss and damage is estimated at over $6,000.

On February 24, 2008, arson was committed at The Peony Patch, 1740 Beverly Dr. The back door to the business was forced open, and once inside, a fire was started. A storage building nearby was also entered and a fire was started in it as well. Both buildings were completely destroyed. Loss is estimated at over $50,000.

Between January 9th and January 10th unknown suspect(s) broke out a window to the Assaria Hardware Store located in Assaria. The suspect(s) entered the store through the window and stole 115 packs of Marlboro brand cigarettes. Estimated loss: $597

Sometime during the night of February 14, 2008 a burglary was committed at Town Pump, 204 S Broadway. Unknown persons forced entry through a window to gain entry into the business. Once inside the following items were taken: 1,000 packs of cigarettes; 140 cans of tobacco and 50 Bic lighters. Total loss is estimated at $3,929.

Sometime between January 10 and January 11, 2008, a theft was committed in the 900 blk. of Sherman. Unknown persons removed a silver truck toolbox that was sitting next to the garage. The toolbox contained miscellaneous hand tools. Loss is estimated at $1,400.

Between January 22nd & January 23rd unknown person(s) entered a residence located at 7627 West Remington Road and stole a 32” Sony Bravia LCD flat screen TV, a Compaq Presario computer tower, a Memorex wall mounted AM/FM radio and CD player, a .40 caliber semi-automatic Heckler & Koch USP police edition handgun with night sights, a .25 caliber Phoenix Arms handgun with a 6 round magazine, a .380 caliber Firestorm handgun, a Crossman pump action bb/pellet gun, and a Crossman 5096 replica handgun bb/pellet gun. January 25, 2008 Salina Police Department Case# 2008-1792
At 3:31 PM on January 21, 2008, the Salina Police Department investigated a welfare check at 1200 East Iron in Salina. Upon arrival officers found a deceased 56 year old female, identified as Beverly Ann Logan. This case is currently being investigated as a homicide. The house is a white bungalow located immediately east of Green Lantern, Ohio and Iron. The assailant may have cuts or other injuries to the hands or body. Sometime between 4:30 PM January 3 and 7:00 AM January 4, 2008, a burglary was committed at Mid Kansas Underground, 704 E. North. Unknown persons gained entry into the business by forcing open a walk in door. Once inside, the suspects removed the following items: 1-1999 Ford F450 flatbed truck; 1-1997 Ford F350 flatbed truck; 1-Yellow and black Winco 3000 watt generator; 1-Stihl chainsaw; 1-Stihl concrete cutoff saw. The 1999 Ford was located the same day 2 blocks from the business. The 1996 Ford was located in Manhattan, Kansas on 1-12-08. Total loss is estimated at over $26,000.

On January 1st between 7:00 AM and 1:00 PM unknown person(s) stole a 10 year old Paint Horse named “Lycoda” from his pin located at 5196 West Stimmel Road. The horse is brown and white in color and has a distinct “bulls eye” marking on its rear. Estimated loss: $2500
January 4, 2008 Salina Police Department Case# 2007-35928
Sometime between 2:00 PM December 30 and 8:00 AM December 31, 2007, a burglary was committed at Kansas Wesleyan University, 100 E. Claflin. Unknown persons forced entry into the business office of Pioneer Hall. Once inside the office, a file cabinet was pried open and $950 cash was taken. Total loss and damage is estimated at $1250.
