December 24, 1997 Salina Police Department
Between 3:30 P.M., December 15, and 3:30 P.M., December 17, 1997 a green 1995 Kawasaki four wheel all terrain vehicle was stolen from the Saline County Bird Dog Association, 1101 Airport Road. The vehicle was parked in a shed when it was stolen. Total loss is estimated at $3, 745.
December 19, 1997 Saline County Sheriff's Office
Between the hours of 9:00 P.M. on October 30th, 1997 and 6:45 A.M. on October 31st, 1997 unknown person(s) entered the Sundowner West Country Store located at 2745 North Hedville Road and took approximately 40 cartons of cigarettes, 1 carton of cigars, cash and beer. Estimated loss is $2,770.
December 12, 1997 Salina Police Department
Between 5:30 P.M., November 19, and 8:00 A.M. on November 20 1997 several construction tools were stolen from a trailer owned by Klaus Masonry while it was parked on the St. John's Military School grounds, 110 West Otis. Taken from the trailer were eight Smith brand 24" levels, ten Smith brand 42" levels, a Stihl chop saw with a new diamond Blade, a Dewalt cordless drill and a Dewalt cut off saw. Total estimated at $2,923.
December 5, 1997 Salina Police Department
Between 10:10 P.M., November 28, and 8:55 A. M., November 29, 1997 a business burglary was committed at Laura's Liquor Store, 1600 E. Iron. Entry was gained by throwing large rocks through the front plate glass windows. Once inside, numerous bottles of Crown Royal, Chivas Regal and other expensive brands of liquor were stolen. The safe was also entered and approximately $2,000 was taken. Total estimated loss and damage is $5,000.
December 2, 1997 Saline County Sheriff's Office
Between the hours of 6:30 P.M. on November 9th, 1997 and 6:00 A.M. on November 10th, 1997 unknown persons(s) entered the Smoky Hill Feed Lot and removed tools from the shop, office equipment from the office, and a large amount of Veterinarian medicines from the Vet building. Estimated loss is $15,000.00
November 21, 1997 Salina Police Department
At 2:15 A.M., October 24, 1997 an attempted strong armed robbery occurred at Pump Mart, 1118 North 9th. The suspect, described as a black male, 25-30 years old, 5'10", 180 pounds, wearing a black leather hooded coat, blue jeans and white tennis shoes, walked into Pump Mart holding up his hand trying to cover his face. The suspect told the clerk to open the cash register and threatened her with physical harm if she did not comply. While the clerk was trying to open the cash register, the suspect fled the area on foot without getting any money due to other customers arriving at the store.
November 14, 1997 Salina Police Department
Between 500 P.M., October 10, and 8:00 A.M., October 13, 1997 a felony theft occurred at the Occupational Center of Central Kansas, 1710 W. Schilling Road. Taken were the following items: IBM Think Pad Lap Top computer Model 560, Two 52" ceiling fans, Swing line 690 electric stapler. Total loss is estimated at $2,710.
November 7, 1997 Saline County Sheriff's Office Case #97-5286

October 31, 1997 Salina Police Department
Between 9:45 A.M., October 12, 1997 and 11:00 A.M., October 14, 1997 camera equipment and a microphone were stolen from a cabinet in the Chapel at Salina Regional Medical Center, 400 South Santa Fe. The items taken were a Sony DXC107 CCD color camera, a Sony VCL-16 Auto Iris lens, a 100 mm zoom lens and a Rolls RM81 microphone mixer. Total loss is estimated at $2,263.
October 24, 1997 Salina Police Department
Between 10:00 P.M. October 16 and 5:30 A.M. October 17 1997 five vehicles owned by Salina School District's Head Start Program were vandalized at 1700 Jupiter. All the tires on four vehicles were punctured and the fifth received two punctures. Damage also included broken outside mirrors a broken steering column and dash, punctured seats a ripped roof liner and a broken overhead light. The damaged totaled $2,175.
October 17, 1997 Saline County Sheriff's Office
Between the hours of 5:00 P.M. and 5:30 P.M. on October 8th, 1997 unknown person(s) removed a black Duraliner storage chest from the back of a 1991 Toyota 4X4 pickup that was parked along I-70 at mile post 263. The storage box contained camping and boating equipment. Also taken from the truck was a black rubber bed mat. Loss is estimated at $605.
October 10, 1997 Saline Police Department
Between 12:00 A.M., August 5, and 5:00 A.M., August 6, 1997 a vehicle burglary occurred in the 2300 block of Simmons. There was no sign of forced entry on a tan Honda Accord but several pieces of stereo equipment were stolen from the vehicle. The stereo equipment includes, Pioneer Amplifier, Orion 2150 XTR Amplifier, JL Audio 15" Subwoofer, Two Rockford Fosgate Subwoofers, Speaker box, and Texas Instrument 85 calculator. Total estimated loss and damage is $1,780.
October 3, 1997 Salina Police Department
Between 9:30 P.M., September 6, and 9:30 A.M., September 7, 1997 an unknown person stole a blue go-cart that was parked near a garage at 1108 North 10th. The go-cart has two black cushion seats, a hand operated throttle instead of a foot peddle, large riding lawn mower tires on the back, a roll cage and a 3 1/2 horse power Briggs and Stratton motor. Total loss is $1,200.

Between 9:00 P.M. September 12, and 4:30 A.M. September 13, 1997, someone took numerous power tools, a large number of combination wrenches and other hand tools from the shop at Scoular Elevator on East County Club Road. Estimated loss is $2,500
September 19, 1997 Salina Police Department
Between 5:00 P.M., September 3, and 5:50 A.M., September 4, 1997 a 5000 watt Honda Generator was stolen from the back of a pickup while it was parked in the driveway at 522 Saturn. The Honda Generator is owned by Reece Construction. Total loss is estimated at $2,600.00.
September 12, 1997 Salina Police Department
At 4:24 A.M., August 31, 1997 a robbery was committed at KWIK Shop, 1600 South 9th. The person walked into the KWIK Shop and picked up some items to purchase. When the clerk opened the cash register drawer, the person reached over and grabbed the money from the drawer. The person is described as a Black Male, late 30's to early 40's, 6', 220 pounds, with a white t-shirt and gray cut off shorts. Total loss is estimated at $190.00.
September 5, 1997 Saline County Sheriff's Office
On August 19, 1997, between 6:00 A.M. and 5:00 P.M., unknown person(s) forcibly gained entry into a residence located in the 2000 block of West Falun Road in Saline County. Once inside the residence, the suspect(s) removed several pictures, poster, boxes of compact discs and several collector's knives. Estimated loss is $5,000.00
August 29, 1997 Salina Police Department
Between 8:00 P.M., August 21, and 7:50 A.M., August 22, 1997, a business burglary was committed at Glass Services, 161 South Broadway. Entry was gained by crawling through a window of the business. An office door and file cabinets were pried open and $465 in cash was stolen. Total loss and damages is estimated at $1,465.
August 25, 1997 Salina Police Department
Between 12:30 A.M. and 8:00 A.M., July 23 1997, a business burglary was committed at the American Legion, 142 S. 7th. Entry was gained by prying open an entrance door located on the west side of the building. Once inside, approximately $1,666 in cash was stolen from the business. Total loss and damage is estimated at $1,871.
August 18, 1997 Saline County Sheriff's Office
The Sheriff's Office is asking for the public's help in finding the culprits who damaged the Salina Country Club Golf Course between Tuesday and Wednesday. Greens, golf ball washers, bunker rakes and the shelter house were damaged, and two flags were taken from the greens. Damage and loss were estimated at $1,000.
August 11, 1997 Salina Police Department
Salina police are asking for the public's help in solving a car theft. Between 10:30 P.M. and mid-night May 27, a 1988 blue Yugo two-door was taken from 2625 Ray. The car was found about 1:45 A.M. May 28 at Ohio and Scott streets. it was heavily damaged and items had been removed from it. Damage and loss are estimated at $1,700.
August 4, 1997 Salina Police Department
Between 6 P.M. July 13, 1997 and 7:30 A.M. July 14, 1997, a burglary and theft occurred at ADI Systems Inc., 628 North Broadway. Entry was gained to the business by breaking a window on the south side of building. Once inside, snack, vending machines were damaged, and numerous computer items were stolen. These items include: An Acer Pentium CPU, an IBM Power Spec, A 14-inch monitor, A Sharp UX186 fax machine, a Micro House CD-Rom and other computer-related items. Loss and damage was estimated at $5,936.00.
July 28, 1997 Saline County Sheriff's Office
Between the hours of 8:00 A.M. on June 30, 1997 and 1:00 P.M. on July 232, 1997 unknown persons stole a Bryandt 2 1/2 ton air conditioner condenser from a new home located at 4585 North Amos Road. Estimated loss : $1,300.00.
July 18, 1997 Salina Police Department
Between 6:30 P.M., June 28, and 1:15 P.M., June 29, 1997 a business burglary was committed at Midwest Business Machines, 111 N. 7th. Entry was gained by forcing open a back door, and once inside, the following items were taken: A 15" and a 17" AOC computer monitors; two DS1200 Scan Pac Scanners; four CD ROMs; twenty five 256 K Memory Chips; eight "Pny" Instructional Video tapes; and two 1.2 gig Hard Drives. Total loss and damages is estimated at $3,126.
July 11, 1997 Salina Police Department
Between 7:50 P.M., June 30, and 7:50 A.M., July 1, 1997 a business burglary was committed at Auto Images, 816 N. Santa Fe. Entry was gained by forcing open an overhead garage door. Once inside, the following items were stolen: 1. Two Accu-spray paint guns valued at $900 a piece. 2. Approximately $300 in cash. 3. Passport brand radar detector. Total damages and loss is estimated at $3,210.
July 3, 1997 Saline County Sheriff's Office
Between the hours of 4:00 P.M. on June 20 and noon on June 21, 1997 unknown persons stole a 1993 black and yellow 1845C Case Skid Steer Uni-Loader from an I-70 construction site at the Reese Road overpass.
June 27, 1997 Salina Police Department
Between 8:30 P.M., June 5 and 4:49 A.M. June 6, 1997 a business burglary was committed at Audio Access, 833 E. Crawford. Entry was gained by breaking the glass on an entrance door. Once inside, several pieces of car stereo equipment were stolen. The name brands include Clarion, MTX and Pioneer CD players; Orion and MTX speakers and Hi Fonic amplifiers. Total estimated loss and damage is $7,567.84.
June 20,1997 Salina Police Department
Between 8:00 P.M., May 26, 1997 and 6:55 A.M., May 27, a dark blue 1986 Jeep Cherokee was stolen from the 1100 block of Andrew. The jeep was later recovered in the 500 block North Marymount Road with a large amount of damage. The windows had been completely broken out, the passenger and driver's doors were kicked or dented in, a plastic front grill was broken off and a profane word was written on the Jeep with shoe polish.
Also taken from the vehicle were a sony AM/FM cassette player and a black cassette case with 20 cassette tapes. Total loss is $5,250.
June 13, 1997 Saline County Sheriff's Office
Between 10:00 P.M. on June 5th and 8:00 AM on June 6th unknown person(s) entered numerous vehicles that were parked in front of residences at Sundowner West.
Items taken included cellular phones, Oakley sunglasses, numerous keys, radar detector, Radio Shack wireless beeper, tackle box containing fishing equipment, and a pair of Blade Runner Roller Blades.
Estimated loss is $976.00
