December 30, 1999 Salina Police Department Cases# 99-31519 99-32640

On December 14, and again on December 29, 1999 the Salina Police Department received reports of shots being fired at an occupied residence.  On December 14, at approximately 1:45 A.M., several shots from a 9mm weapon were fired at the residence at 3212 Canterbury Rd. The bullets struck the garage frame, the left front tire on a red Geo Metro and on the brick siding of the house.  On December 29, at approximately 2:00 A.M., several shots from a 9mm weapon were fired at the residence at 1418 Brittany. Most of the bullets struck around the picture window in front of the residence and entered into the living room area.

December 24, 1999 Saline County Sheriff's Office Case# 99-5086

Between 2:00 PM on October 13, 1999 and 2:30 PM on October 27, 1999, unknown person(s) entered a 5th wheel camping trailer parked at 461 east Avenue A, Lorenson Industries and stole an Emerson TV/VCR with 9 volt adapter and a Panasonic portable CD/Cassette/AM/FM radio.  Estimated loss: $480.00

December 17, 1999 Salina Police Department Case# 99-30290

Sometime during the night of November 26, 1999 a burglary was committed at 545 N. 12th. Entry was gained into a detached garage and several tools were stolen. Some of the tools taken were: Yellow EASB Plasma Cutter, EASB cutter templates, Blue Camel-Hausefeld, 8 gallon, 5 horsepower, air compressor, Divelbliss " impact wrench, Divelbliss air spay gun, and other Craftsman tools. Total loss is estimated at $4,595.

December 10, 1999 Salina Police Department Case # 99-30603

Between 4:00 P.M., November 27, and 8:00 A.M., November 28, 1999 a defibrillator was stolen from the Salina Regional Health Center, 400 S. Santa Fe. The defibrillator is a yellow Hewlett Packard, model M17228, battery powered and has a heart monitor. The defibrillator was stored in the Radiology Department at the hospital. Total loss is estimated at $8,000.

December 3, 1999 Saline County’s  Sheriff's Office Case # 99-3746                            

Between August 10th 1999, and August 12th 1999 unknown person(s) entered a shed located at 11825 West State Street road and removed a Cairns brand saddle. The saddle is brown leather with oak leaf tooling on the fender of the saddle.  Estimated loss: $1500.00

November 24, 1999 Salina Police Department Case # 99-29888

During the night of November 21,1999, four vehicles were damaged while parked at Long McArthur Ford, 340 N. Santa Fe. Windshields were shattered on two white 1999 Ford Escorts and a white 1999 Ford Contour. The fourth vehicle was a silver 1999 Ford Escort which had a dent on the hood. Total damage is estimated at $1,200.

 

November 19, 1999, Salina Police Department Case #99-28348.

Around 9:30 P.M., November 4, 1999 a vehicle burglary was committed in the 800 block of Windsor. Entry was gained into a tan 1994 Ford Winstar Van, and once inside, the following items were taken: Browning BT 99 Pigeon Grade 12 gauge shotgun; Remington 870 Wingmaster 12 gauge shotgun; Brown "Browning" plastic gun case with a wool liner. Total loss is estimated at $2,561.

November 12, 1999 Saline County Sheriff's Office Case # 99-5259

Between 5:30 PM on November 5, 1999 and 7:00 AM, on November 6, 1999 unknown person(s) entered a barn located at Whitmore Road mile north of Lapsley Road and stole gasoline, numerous items of fishing equipment and motor vehicle parts. Estimated loss: $4000.00

November 5, 1999 Salina Police Department Case# 99-27850

During the evening of October 29, and the morning of October 30, 1999 several vehicles and a business window were damaged in the north end of Salina.  A windshield on a Lincoln Continental was shattered while parked at Virg’s Auto Repair, 813 N. Santa Fe. A windshield on a Chevy Malibu was also shattered while parked at Larry’s Auto Sales, 815 N. Santa Fe. A back window and front windshield on a Buick Skylark were shattered and the driver’s door and hood were dented while the vehicle was parked in the 800 block of N. 7th. A large plate glass window was broken on the west side of a storage building at 115 W. Pacific. Total damage is estimated at $3,000.

October 29, 1999 Salina Police Department Case# 99-21316

Between August 17 and August 23, 1999, 16 restaurant chairs were stolen from Bayard’s Cafe, 2301 N. 9th. Bayard’s Cafe was in the process of remodeling and placed the chairs in the back of the restaurant.  The 16 chairs are made of wood and have green cloth seat pads.  Total loss is estimated at $4,000.

October 22, 1999 Saline County Sheriff's Office Case # 99-4939

Between October 17th 1999, and October 19th 1999 unknown person(s) entered the residence located at 512 East McReynolds Road, and removed the following items. A Cannon Cano Scan Flatbed Scanner, Epson Stylus Color Printer, Hewlett Packard computer with 15 inch monitor, a 13 inch Magnavox TV/VCR combo, an unknown brand Camcorder, 35MM Minolta camera in a aluminum case, and a white vinyl jewelry box containing miscellaneous items.  Estimated loss: $3000.00

October 15, 1999 Salina Police Department Case # 99-26006

Sometime during the night of October 9th and morning of October 10th, 1999, two trucks were stolen from Long McArthur Ford, 340 N. Santa Fe. The stolen trucks were a black and a white 2000 Ford F-350s and they were parked on the north side of the business. The keys to the vehicles were taken from the lock boxes attached to the trucks. The stolen trucks were later located heavily damaged in a field in the 300 block of N. Front. It appears that the trucks were used to play demolition derby. Both trucks had extensive body damage. Total damage is estimated at $22,400.

October 8, 1999 Salina Police Department Case # 99-19087

Between July 28, and August 1, 1999, a residential burglary was committed in the 2000 block of Norton Street. Entry was gained by forcing open a door and once inside the following items were taken: $5,500 in cash, Four U.S. Savings bond worth $350, $100 worth of gold and silver coins, Men’s Navy Ring, and a Blue and gold Notre Dame starter jacket. Total loss is estimated at $6,250.

September 30, 1999 Saline County Sheriff’s Office CASE# 99-4315

Between September 9, 1999 and September 14, 1999 unknown person(s) entered a detached garage located at 100 E. 1st Street in New Cambria, Kansas and the following was stolen a Craftsman 2000 PSI power washer, 10 HP Tecumseh engine (new), 8 HP Tecumseh engine (new) and numerous hand tools and mechanical items. Estimated loss: $10,000

September 24, 1999 Salina Police Department Case # 99-23322

Between September 10, and September 13, 1999 a blue 1989 Dodge Caravan was vandalized while parked in the 100 block of S. Kansas. The vehicle was parked in an alley and had roofing tar spread all over the outside of it. Two gallons of paint were then dumped over the seats, dash and floorboard of the vehicle.  Total damage is estimated at $2,065.

September 17, 1999 Salina Police Department Case # 99-22737

Sometime during the night of September 3rd and the morning of September 4th, 1999 a 15' trailer with side boards was stolen from the parking lot of Wal-Mart, 2900 S. 9th. On the trailer was an orange Pallet Jack and several pieces of pipe, wires and fittings. The trailer and equipment is owned by B & W Electric.  The trailer was later located on September 8th behind the business of Lytle Electric, 601 E. North minus the equipment.  Total loss is estimated at $3,926.

September 10, 1999 Saline County Sheriff's Office Case #99-4142

On September 5, 1999, between the hours of 4:00 a.m. and 6:00 a.m. unknown person or persons entered the Otta Shop located at 2124 North Hedville Road by forcing the rear door open and stole U.S. currency and damaged property.  Estimated loss is $22,128.

September 3, 1999 Salina Police Department Case # 99-20540

Between 5:00 P.M., August 13, and 8:00 A.M., August 16, 1999 a burglary was committed at Paramount International Products, 503 N. Santa Fe.  There were no signs of forced entry, however, a yellow ESAB Plasma Cutter with model number PCM1125 is missing from the business.  Total loss is estimated at $2,250.

August 27, 1999 Saline County Sheriff's Office Case #99-3643

Between the hours of 7:45am and 6:00pm August 9, 1999, unknown person(s) entered a detached garage located at 6428 East K-4 Highway and took a 1970 Ford F-250 pickup with Kansas tag LPV 115.  The stolen vehicle was recovered on August 11, 1999, in the area of the 300 block of East Beloit in Salina, KS.  Estimated loss: $1,000.

August 20, 1999 Salina Police Department Case #99-20314, 99-20334, 99-20339, 99-20343, 99-20348, 99-20358, 99-2035

Sometime during the night of August 13, and the morning of August 14, 1999, the Salina Police Department received seven reports of tire punctures that occurred in central Salina.  A total of 15 tires were punctured with an estimated damage of $660.

The streets which the tire punctures occurred were 400 block of W. Iron, 300 block of S. 11th, 500 block of W. South and the 100 block of N. Santa Fe.

August 13, 1999 Salina Police Department Case #99-19203

On August 2, 1999 at approximately 10:15 P.M., a 17 year old female was driving her vehicle southbound in the 600 block of S. Santa Fe when she was confronted by a white female driving a white two door vehicle and two black males passengers. As the 17 year old stopped at Santa Fe and Crawford, one of the black males got out of the vehicle and started yelling at her at the intersection. The white female started yelling the black male’s name as "Anthony" telling him to get back into the vehicle when the traffic light turned green. The confrontation continued as the they traveled south on Santa Fe and the 17 year old pulled her vehicle over in the 1400 block of S. Santa Fe. The other black male got and started punching the 17 year old in the face when she got out of her vehicle. The 17 year old suffered a broken nose and fractures around her eye.

August 6, 1999 Case # 99-17729

Sometime between July 9th, and July 18th, 1999 a storage shed burglary was committed at 539 N. Ohio. Entry was gained by cutting the lock on the unit. Once inside, the following items were stolen: 1. Klipsch S.S. Tower Speakers, 2. Sony CD Player, 3. Sony VCR, 4. Sony stereo receiver, 5. 200 compact discs of heavy metal music 6. 6' Rhino fishing pole and a 6 ‘ heavy Rhino fishing pole and other items. Total loss and damage is estimated at $3,595.

July 30, 1999 Saline County Sheriff's Office Case #99-949

Sometime between the hours of 6:00 p.m. on March 4, 1999, and 7:30 a.m. on March 5, 1999 unknown person or persons entered a job trailer parked on a construction site t 1100 North Ohio Street.  Items taken from the trailer included a Partner brand 12 inch cut off saw, blue in color, a Milwaukee brand Sazzall saw, and a Skill brand 3/8 inch electric drill with a 1/2 inch chuck.  Estimated loss is $1,450.00.

July 23, 1999 Salina Police Department Case #99-17069

Sometime during the night of July 12, 1999 a vehicle burglary was committed at Motel 6, 635 W. Diamond Dr. Entry was gained by breaking the driver’s side window on a white 1999 Chevy van.  Once inside, several pieces of band equipment were taken from the vehicle which include:

    1. Yamaha Maple Custom snare drum 
    2. Tama 1997 Radio King snare drum
    3. Iron Cobra bass drum pedal
    4. Two Gibson Guitars
    5. Electrovoice microphone

Other items taken include a laptop computer, 50 compact discs, cassette tape player, men’s clothing and other items. Total loss is estimated at $9,830.

July 16, 1999 Salina Police Department Case #99-16193

Between 10:30 P.M., July 2, and 8:00 A.M., July 3, 1999 a gold 1987 Volvo Station Wagon was stolen while parked in the 900 block of Gypsum. The vehicle was unlocked and the keys were in the vehicle.  At approx. 8:30 A.M., July 3, the vehicle was found resting on its’ top in the Mulberry Creek on North Burma Road about .1 mile north of W. State Street Rd. The front half of the vehicle was in the water and the back half was on the north bank.  Total damage is estimated at $2,000.

July 9, 1999 Saline County Sheriff's Office Case #99-2720 and 99-2723

Between the hours of 8:00 a.m. on February 1, 1999 and 4:00 p.m. on June 21, 1999 unknown person or persons entered two camping trailers that were on the storage lot at Lorenson Industries, located at 461 East Avenue A.  Items taken from a 5th wheel camper included two reclining lawn chairs, and two folding lawn chairs.  Two propane bottles were removed from the second camper.  Estimated loss is $400.

June 25, 1999 Salina Police Department Case # 99-12161

Between 5:00 P.M., May 21, and 8:00 A.M., May 24, 1999 a 5000 watt Honda Portable generator was stolen from the 1600 block of W. Schilling Rd. The generator was sitting in a cargo truck owned by GWA Davis Construction out of Newton, Kansas. Entry was gained to the cargo area by cutting a latch on the truck. Total loss and damage is estimated at $4,100.

June 18, 1999 Saline County Sheriff's Office Case # 99-1035

Between the hours of 9:00 p.m. on March 5th and 1:00 a.m. on March 6, 1999 unknown person or persons entered the convenience store located at Sundowner West campground at 2745 North Hedville Road and removed a Sharp Electronic cash register and contents.   Estimated loss is $859.05.

June 11, 1999 Salina Police Department Case # 99-12271

Sometime during the night of May 20 or early morning hours of May 21, 1999, thirty-five aluminum 7 gallon cylinder tanks containing propane were stolen from Payne Oil Company, 410 W. North. The tanks were in a fenced in area of the business and they were used to power fork lifts. Total loss is estimated at $4,780.

June 4, 1999 Salina Police Department Case # 99-11737

Between 5:15 P.M. and 6:30 P. M., May 19, 1999 a vehicle burglary was committed in the parking lot of YMCA, 570 YMCA Dr. A 1995 Ford van was parked on the north side of the parking lot near the river.  Entry was made by forcing down the passenger window of the van, and once inside, several rings were taken. The rings were described as a 14 carat gold wedding band with a solitaire diamond, a 14 carat gold anniversary ring with seven diamonds, a 14 carat gold ring with a reddish brown garnet stone and a mother’s ring with four stones which are two red, a pink and green stone.  Total loss is estimated at $3,000.

May 28, 1999 Saline County Sheriff's Office 99-1871

Between the hours of 8:00PM on April 30th, 1999 and 12:00Pm on May 1st,1999 unknown person(s) entered onto the property located at 3392 East old 40 Hwy, and broke the glass out of two vehicles, and broke windows out of a abandon trailer house on the property. Items removed from the trailer house included a dinning room table and six chairs, two mirrors, two wall mounted lights, ceiling speaker, an unknown brand microwave, beige curtains, six barstools, and two telephones. Estimated loss: $4,912.77

May 21, 1999 Salina Police Department Case # 99-11007

Between 7:00 P.M., May 11, and 7:30 A.M., May 12, 1999, four wheels were stolen from the car lot at Long McArthur Ford, 340 N. Santa Fe. Four 16" aluminum Mustang wheels were taken off a red 1997 Ford Mustang. The tires are Goodyear Eagle ZR45's.   Total loss is estimated at $1,700.

May 14, 1999 Salina Police Department Case # 99-8971

Between 8:30 P.M., April 18, and 7:30 P.M., April 19, 1999 an outboard boat motor was stolen from 2134 Wesley. The motor was affixed to a boat and was parked on the south side of the residence.  The motor is a black 1998 "Mercury Force" 15 horse power engine with an estimated value of $1,500.

May 7, 1999 Saline County Sheriff's Office Case # 99-19365

Between the hours of 12:58 a.m. and 1:06 a.m. on May 5, 1999, unknown persons forced open the front door to the store at Sundowner West trailer and RV Park located at 2745 North Hedville road, and removed a Sharp brand cash register from behind the service counter.  Total loss is estimated at $900.00.

April 30, 1999 Salina Police Department  Case # 99-9135

Sometime during the night of April 20, and the morning of April 21, 1999 a total of five vehicles were vandalized at Conklin Cars, 901 E. Crawford. An unknown tool was used to scratch the vehicles exposing bare metal.  The vehicles were parked on the lot for sale. Total damage is estimated at $6,500.

April 23, 1999 Salina Police Department  Case # 99-8289

Sometime during the night of April 11, and the morning of April 12, 1999, a burglary was committed at Bill’s Truck and Auto, 615 Bishop. There were no signs of forced entry, however, the east overhead door was found open when the owner arrived.   Missing from the business is a Red 1997 Ford Mustang Cobra with Kansas license KFB977. The back bumper had the word "Cobra" embossed in the plastic and detailed in white letters.  Also missing is a Browning 12 gauge shotgun, a .22 caliber pump rifle and 6 gold and silver casino coins.  Total loss is estimated at $30,260.

April 16, 1999 Saline County Sheriff's Office Case # 99-1531

Between the hours of 2:00 a.m. and 2:15 a.m. on April 10, 1999, during a confrontation in the parking lot of Randy's Dance Club located at 1604 West State Street in Saline County, an unknown male struck a Hispanic male subject in the head with an aluminum baseball bat.  After the assault four to five males ran to a two-tone full size Blazer or Bronco type vehicle, and left the area west bound on State Street.

April 9, 1999 Salina Police Department Case # 99-7732

Between April 5, and April 6, 1999 the Salina Police Department received sixteen reports of vehicle burglaries that occurred in the southeast part of Salina. Taken in the burglaries were several pieces of stereo equipment and tools. The streets that the vehicles were parked on are Edward, Mike Drive, Colonial Lane, Robin Road, Daley, Bret, Plantation, Key and Post Oak Lane. Total loss and damages is estimated at $10,090.

April 2, 1999 Salina Police Department Case # 99-6908

Between 10:00 p.m.., March 26, and 7:50 a.m., March 27, 1999 a vehicle burglary was committed in the 300 block of South Phillips. A 1986 Toyota truck was parked at the rear of 317 South Phillips when it was entered. A Whistler radar detector, a Kenwood AM/FM CD player, a Uniden equalizer, two Rockford Fosgate speakers and sunglasses were stolen from the cab of the truck. A green and black fishing tackle box containing several fishing lures and a fishing pole were stolen from the bed of the truck. Total loss is estimated at $2,237.

March 26, 1999 Saline County Sheriff's Office Case #

Between March 20, 1999 at 11:30 p.m. and March 21, 1999 at 1:30 a.m. unknown person took a red and whit gold bag containing Titleist and Palm Springs clubs and a black and fluorescent-green bowling ball bag from a burgundy Oldsmobile Delta 88. Loss is estimated at $3,700.

March 19, 1999 Salina Police Department Case # 99-5027

At approximately 8:00 p.m., March 3, 1999 and Aggravated Arson occurred at an apartment complex at 525 West Iron. A Molotov cocktail had been thrown at a window on the east side of the complex which set the house on fire. The fire spread along the inner wall space of the complex and up into the attic area before the Salina Fire Department extinguished the flames. There was one person inside the complex when the fire started. Total damage is estimated at $25,000.

March 12, 1999 Salina Police Department Case # 99-5466

Between Friday, March 5, and Saturday March 6, 1999 the Salina Police Department received twenty four reports of spray paint damage. Most of the spray painting occurred in the area of Kraft Manor, Kansas Wesleyan College and Central High School. Most of the items sprayed painted with graffiti include vehicles, businesses and traffic control devices. Total damage is estimated at $7,400.

March 5, 1999 Saline County Sheriff's Office Case # 98-4669

Between the hours of 12:00 p.m. on October 10, 1998 and 7:30 a.m. on October 29, 1998 unknown person or persons entered a home under construction located at 347 East Kansas in Assaria, and stole the following power tools: Senco Framing Gun, Makita Miter Box Chop Saw, Milwaukee Sawzall, Black and Decker Router, Makita 3/8" Drill, Makita Circular Saw Makita Belt Sander and a Craftsman Air Tacker. Estimated loss is $1,450.

February 26, 1999 Salina Police Department Case # 99-1999

Between 11:30 p.m., January 8, 1999 and 4:00 a.m., January 12, 1999 a vehicle burglary was committed at 1205 South Santa Fe. A yellow 1977 Oldsmobile Cutlass was entered and several pieces of stereo equipment were taken. The equipment consisted of an Alpine AM/FM Cassette and CD changer, an Alpine Equalizer, two 6" Alpine speakers, two 18" Rockford Fosgate speakers and two Alpine Amplifiers. Total loss and damage is estimated at $3,850.

February 19, 1999 Salina Police Department Case # 99-1009

Between 11:00 p.m., January 12, and 7:00 a.m., January 13, 1999 twenty nine Sony Play Station CD games were stolen from Dillons, 2012 S. Ohio. The games were taken from the shelves located in the Video Rental Department of the store. The games were in plastic boxes and should have the Dillons Video rental sticker on them. Total loss is estimated at $1,117.

February 12, 1999 Saline County Sheriff's Office Case # 98-5991

Between the hours of 4:30 p.m. on December 27, 1998 and 3:00 p.m. on December 28, 1998 unknown person or persons entered the residence at 509 North Halstead Road and stole a Uniden Satellite Receiver, a Sylvania VCR, and a double action 22 caliber revolver. Estimated loss is $650.00.

February 5, 1999 Salina Police Department Case # 99-1337

Sometime during Friday night, January 15, and again on Saturday night, January 16, 1999 the Salina Police Department received 30 reports of vandalism that occurred throughout the central and south parts of Salina. The vandalism consisted of 25 vehicles that had the windows broke out with a blunt object and 5 mailboxes that were dented. Total damage is estimated at $4,000.

January 29, 1999 Salina Police Department Case # 99-1629

Between 7:30 p.m., January 19, and 6:30 a.m., January 20, 1999 a burglary of construction equipment occurred at a Reece Construction job-site, located at Centennial and Cloud Street. The items were stored in a storage trailer. The items taken include an orange Multi-Quip 2000 watt power generator, a 16 gallon shop vac, a Milwaukee 3/8 inch drill and a 100 foot extension cord. Total loss is estimated at $3,025.

January 22, 1999 Saline County Sheriff's Office Case # 98-2552

Between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 9:10 a.m. on June 5th, 1998 unknown persons entered a residence located at 6309 East North Street and took $700 in cash, a ring, a Ruger 22 caliber revolver and a credit card. The victim was tied, and gagged during the crime. The first suspect is described as a white male approximately 5'6", 170 pounds with curly blonde hair. He was wearing a avocado colored shirt and a olive green ski mask. The second suspect is a white male approximately 5' 4" with dark hair, who was wearing a dark clothing and a bandanna. Estimated loss is $1,000.

January 15, 1999 Salina Police Department Case # 99-191

On January 3, 1999 at 6:43 a.m., an Aggravated Robbery occurred at Dillons, 1201 West Crawford. A male subject entered through the east door and leaped over the counter at the cashier's cage. The male subject displayed a chrome hand gun and ordered the clerks to lie on the floor while he took the cash on the counter. The male subject is described as being 5'11", thin build, wearing a dark coat with a large hood.

January 8, 1999 Salina Police Department Case # 98-32652

Between 4:00 p.m., December 21, and 9:20 a.m., December 22, 1998 a burglary occurred at Outrageous Paint Ball, 153 South 4th. Entry was gained by breaking the front glass door of the business. Once inside, several paint guns with the brand names of Tippman Prolight, Tippman 68 Carbine, Ally Cates, Spyder and Sheridan were taken. Also missing were twenty five gas tanks and other miscellaneous protective equipment. Total loss and damage is estimated at $3,217.
