VISITATION POLICY
WE PROVIDE THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION IN ORDER FOR YOU, THE FAMILY AND FRIENDS OF THE INMATES, TO BETTER UNDERSTAND THE REQUIREMENTS AND RULES THAT REGULATE THE VISITATION. IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS OR REQUIRE CLARIFICATION, PLEASE CONTACT THE JAIL STAFF.
VISITATION: Inmates are allowed personal visits during designated visitation hours. (See the schedule below) The visitation is scheduled by housing units within the facility and we provide the inmates with the schedule and they will be able to advise you of the times and days.
Inmates must be incarcerated at least five (5) days to qualify for a visitation.
The visitation is limited to two (2) thirty (30) minute sessions per prisoner per week. If more than one person wants to visit, it is the responsibility of the prisoner or visitor to limit/share their time so that all can visit. Each inmate is allowed no more than three (3) visitors per thirty (30) minute visit.
Smoking, eating or drinking during the visitation is prohibited.
We will refuse a visitation if visitors are under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
We will not allow prisoners hospitalized in outside facilities a visitation.
Visitors are not allowed to take personal property into the visitation area. Property will be left in the lockers provided in the lobby area.
Visitors must register, giving names and addresses. You must produce valid photo identification and be at least 18 years of age. Visitors less than 18 must be the children of the inmate and be accompanied by parent or legal guardian.
SPECIAL VISITS: Scheduled only for visitors that cannot visit during regularly scheduled visits.
We will not schedule Special Visits to avoid or circumvent the regular visiting schedule. Special Visits are limited to two (2) thirty (30) minute visits per month, but are limited to Special circumstances, as stated, or in case of a death/ birth or other major family emergency. Special visits must be made 24 hrs. in advance.

VISITING REGULATIONS
The number of visitors an inmate may receive at any one time shall be limited only by the number of approved visitors, facility schedule, space and personnel constraints or other security reasons.
Visitors are required
to properly identify themselves with a picture ID issued by a government agency

No one under eighteen (18) years
of age shall be allowed to visit unless they are:
1) The child, step-child, grandchild, step-grandchild, sibling, half-sibling, or
step-sibling of an inmate, and
accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.
2) All children of the inmate must have a certified birth certificate with the
inmates name as a parent.
VISITING RULES
The following
rules shall be followed by all
visitors. Violation of any rules may
result in termination of the visit or suspension of visiting privileges or both.
A) Visitors shall leave promptly at the end of each visiting period.
B) Visitors will leave promptly if their visit is disapproved or terminated.
C) No visitors shall remain the jail lobby if not participating in an approved
visit.
D) Visitors shall not bring anything into the visiting area
E) Visitors shall supervise their children. Visits may be terminated because of
poor conduct of children.
F) Visitors and inmates shall use the
seating provided
G) No visitor or inmate shall sit or
lay on the tabletops, floors, or other pieces of furniture NOT designed for sitting.
H) Visitors will not leave any property for any inmate; money may be left at the
visitation window.
I) Cell phones are prohibited in visitation
Visits may be denied or terminated by the shift
supervisor on duty for any of the following reasons:
1) Visitors under the influence of drugs or alcohol;
2) Insufficient space available;
3) Refusal or failure to provide sufficient identification or falsifying
information;
4) Violation of facility rules;
5) Failure to properly supervise children;
6) Reasons necessary to preserve security of the facility and reasonable order
in the visiting area;
7) Visitor or visitor’s child becomes ill.
8) No inmate shall be allowed to take
property to visitation,
9) Inmates shall be responsible for the conduct of their visitors.
10) Visits shall be conducted in a quiet and orderly manner
Failure to comply with visiting rules and regulations may result in an immediate termination of the visit and/or suspension of future visiting privileges.
If you are on probation/parole and have an immediate family member incarcerated in the Saline County Jail (i.e. brother, sister, son, daughter, mother, father), you will be allowed to visit after receiving permission from your probation/parole officer and the Jail Administrator.
Unauthorized visitors shall not be permitted to remain on County property.
With the approval of the Shift Supervisor, modifications may be imposed to the visitation procedure from time to time, due to space considerations. Modifications may include, but are not limited to:
1) Requiring people who have been visiting for the longest
period of time to leave so others can enter the visiting area; or
2) Limiting the number of visitors allowed to visit with each
inmate; or
3) Requiring those who live within a shorter distance (within fifty miles) to
leave in order to accommodate those who have traveled from a greater distance;
or
Visitors shall be prohibited from bringing in prepared foods, such as: restaurant packaged items, fast food items, deli food items, prepared meals, or sealed, packaged food items in factory retail wrapping. This also includes any food items prepared at home and brought in by the visitors, including snacks or finger foods
Soft drinks/beverages are prohibited
Visitors shall not bring any type of camera
Visitors shall not be permitted to visit more than one inmate unless the inmates are immediate family members and prior permission has been obtained from the Shift Supervisor. Attorneys and clergy shall be exempt from this regulation
An inmate’s clergy or attorney need not be on the inmate’s visiting list.
All visitors shall be required to completely fill out a Visitor’s Registration form, prior to each visit. Any person refusing to complete this form shall be denied access to visitation.
Persons eighteen (18) or older shall provide photo identification, such as a driver’s license or official government issued identification card.
Visitors are required to produce positive identification at each visit. Failure to produce identification may result in the visit being denied.
Any person refusing to comply with any part of the check-in process shall be denied visitation.
All contacts with the public, at the visitation window are video/sound recorded.
All visitation phones are recorded.
If a visitor is handicapped and needs assistance, he/she should notify the Central Control Officer. The officer shall ensure that proper assistance is provided
VISITORS RESPONSIBILITIES
Parents or guardians shall be responsible for the supervision and behavior of their children. Children shall not be left unattended.
Parents shall control their children’s behavior
If a visitor or visitor’s child appears ill, they shall be asked to leave visitation to ensure the health and well-being of all visitors, inmates, and staff.
Visits may be terminated if children are being disruptive in any manner.
Lying or sitting on the ground, floor, tables, or any other furniture not designed for sitting shall not be permitted. Inmates and visitors shall keep their feet off of chairs and tabletops. Small children shall be allowed to lie horizontally for naps.
**Saline County Sheriff’s Office assumes no responsibility for injuries to children under the supervision of parents or guardians while in the Saline County Jail visitation area.**
PARKING AREA
Visitors shall park on the Northwest side of the jail, All visitors shall enter/exit the Jail through the visitors entrance.
Purses, handbags, or other valuables shall not be permitted in the visiting area and shall be secured in the visitor’s vehicle or lockers provided in the lobby of the jail
Visitors shall remove the keys from the vehicle and secure all doors and windows.
Saline County Jail is a tobacco free facility and tobacco and related items are prohibited. Tobacco or any related items are governed by KSA 21-3826; traffic in contraband in a penal institution.
The use or possession of all tobacco products by any person is prohibited in the Sheriff’s Office facilities.
Tobacco Products: Includes cigarettes; pipes; pipe tobacco; loose-leaf tobacco substitutes; chewing tobacco; smokeless tobacco; cigars; matches; cigarette lighters; smoking paraphernalia; and all items developed or processed for the primary purpose of facilitating the use or possession of tobacco or tobacco-based products.
Tobacco Substitutes: Any substance ingested by smoking or herbal/leaf-based substitutes for chewing tobacco.
Smoking Paraphernalia: Includes items such as lighters, matches, altered batteries, cigarette papers, rolling machine, and other items that would facilitate one in the use of tobacco products
